"Teabagger" was Oxford's 'Word of the Year' Runner-Up; Olbermann's Pleased

Teabagger (n) - a person who protests President Obama's tax policies and stimulus package, often through local demonstrations known as "Tea Party" protests (in allusion to the Boston Tea Party of 1773While 'Unfriend' was named "New Oxford American Dictionary's 2009 Word of the Year," it is another finalist, Teabagger, that seem to be getting all the attention.
According to the press release from Oxford, there were five finalists in the Political category. Teabagger, birther and death panel were 3 of them! LOL.

Their definition doesn’t touch upon any of the raunchier, more testicular connotations of the word, which Keith Olbermann and Anderson Cooper had a lot of fun with in April. Cooper can take a lot of credit for the popularization of the phrase: in response to David Gergen’s questions about the Republican Party’s abilities to organize and articulate a message, Cooper infamously quipped, “It’s hard to talk when you’re teabagging.”

If you don't already know, the reason the right-wing nutters declaring themselves teabaggers was so funny was because it already had a meaning:

Teabagging is a slang term for the act of a man placing his scrotum in the mouth or on or around the face (including the top of the head) of another person, often in a repeated in-and-out motion as in irrumatio. The practice resembles dipping a tea bag into a cup of tea.
Now do you understand why his protester's sign is so funny makes a lot of sense:
